Emily Lord is a Faculty Research Specialist and annotation manager at ARLIS. She received her BA in Linguistics from the University of Maryland - College Park (2019). During this time she served as an intern at the Center for Applied Linguistics and the Center for the Advanced Study of Language (now ARLIS). In 2020, she completed her MSt in Korean Studies at the University of Oxford where she was a member of Linacre College. Her master’s research focused on media portrayals of non-standard Korean dialects. Emily is co-authoring her first book, Understanding the Korean Wave on Screen, due for publishing in Spring 2022. Her research areas of interest include natural language processing, second language acquisition, dialectology, and media and culture.
