Dr. Sharon Glazer is a Professor of Cross-Cultural Organizational Psychology and Chair of the Division of Applied Behavioral Sciences at The University of Baltimore. She is also President of Healthy Organization, Inc. Prior to joining The University of Baltimore, she was a Full Research Professor at UMD’s CASL, serving as Principal Investigator (PI), and prior to that she was a Full Professor at San Jose State University.
Sharon has over 25 years of teaching, consulting, and research experience, with expertise in cross-cultural issues in organizational psychology, specifically worker stress and organizational development. Her research has been supported by several external and internal grants, most notably as a Postdoctoral NIOSH Fellow, Fulbright Fellow, Erasmus Mundus Fellow, and NASA PI. Despite serving as department chair and teaching five courses each academic year, in the last five years alone, she has published 17 book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, and a monograph. Sharon is currently a co-editor of a monograph series on Culture, Organizations, and Work and a book series, Emerging Cultural Perspectives in Work, Organizational, and Personnel Studies, published by Springer. Additionally, she has taught and conducted research through her visiting professorships in a dozen universities across Western and Central Europe, New Zealand, Canada, and Brazil.
In service to her profession, Sharon was the Treasurer for the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology, Editor of the International Journal of Stress Management, co-chair of Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology’s (SIOP’s) International Affairs Committee, member of SIOP’s Local IO Groups committee and of member the Education & Training: Internationalization subcommittee. Currently, she chairs the Alliance of Organizational Psychology’s Big Tent initiative.
Sharon is a Fellow of SIOP, International Academy for Intercultural Research, and International Association of Applied Psychology and a member of several additional domestic and international professional associations. In 2021, Sharon was recognized with her college’s Distinguished Scholarship Award and the University’s President’s Faculty Award. In December 2021, Sharon was also awarded the ISMA Federation International Award from the International Stress Management Association.
External to her academic posts, Sharon engages in consulting projects with nonprofit, for-profit, and government organizations from start-up phase to fully mature.
