Dr. Ted Plettner is an associate research scientist at the University of Maryland Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS), with a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Maryland. His research interests include civil conflict dynamics, influence operations, social media analysis, intelligence analysis, and forecasting. Methodologically, he specializes in data science and statistical analysis. Prior to joining ARLIS, Dr. Plettner was a member of the senior professional staff at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, where he managed projects related to influence on social media, as well as leading teams doing testing and evaluation for IARPA FOCUS, including developing testing materials and novel scoring methods, as well as conducting human subjects research.
