ARLIS is awarding seed funding to members of the Intelligence and Security University Research Enterprise (INSURE) consortium who pitch applied research projects benefiting the intelligence and security community.
The INSURE consortium is led by ARLIS and includes 15 member academic institutions. INSURE’s goal is to support high-impact research for the intelligence and security community.
Proposals should lay the groundwork for future collaboration within INSURE, such as pilot studies, feasibility demonstrations, technology prototyping, and discrete analyses. Proposed projects should advance knowledge in relevant fields and engage defense, intelligence, and security communities through impactful publications or similar scholarly outputs.
Proposals are welcomed from tenured/tenure-track and professional track faculty at INSURE partner universities, provided they hold U.S. citizenship.
Key deadlines:
- Initial Quad Chart: July 1
- Final project proposals: July 22
- Applicant notifications: ARLIS will notify successful applicants by Aug. 15, with projects scheduled to begin Sept. 15.
ARLIS will award $250,000 for this cycle, with funds primarily intended for internal project expenditures. Proposals must outline budgetary needs proportionate to anticipated project outcomes, with considerations for cost-sharing requirements from participating institutions.
Evaluation of proposals will prioritize clarity of vision, potential impact on national security and scientific discovery, alignment with strategic growth areas, and the technical feasibility of proposed methodologies.
Applicants are required to submit materials electronically, including project descriptions, budgets, biographical sketches of investigators, and details of any related funding. Successful awardees will be expected to complete their INSURE partnership seedling projects within 12 months, providing regular progress updates and a comprehensive final report.
