Information Warfare
In today’s modern age, success depends on the ability to act faster, smarter and with greater precision and lethality than our adversaries. The Information Warfare mission area is dedicated to delivering initial operational solutions that help you disrupt enemy decision making and force them into deadly mistakes. ARLIS provides tools and capabilities that let you navigate and dominate complex information environments and their real-world vulnerabilities.
ARLIS focuses on research to evaluate and assess commercial technologies for information collection, data insights, and rapid solution development for alignment with DoD needs, prove commercial capabilities in operational environments, accelerate DoD access to commercial solutions and shorten the path from innovation to implementation. By addressing the evolving challenges posed by modern information warfare, ARLIS empowers our military to mislead, outmaneuver, and ulimately defeat our adversaries.
Project
ARLIS established the Information Competition Simulator (ICS) to equip national security professionals with a realistic, science-based platform for testing and improving information operations in the evolving combat and competition landscape.
ICS provides:
- Practitioners with the ability to simulate and evaluate messaging strategies on virtual populations modeled with real-world social, cultural, and psychological data
- Commanders and planners with actionable insights into population sentiment, message resonance, and adversary response
- Information on how narratives spread, evolve, and influence behavior across media channels and identifies amplification points, flagging disinformation, and enabling strategic countermeasures
