As the ARLIS University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) Director of Security, University of Maryland and University System of Maryland Facility Security Officer, Mr. Greg Woosley is responsible for ensuring that all information, data, and materials requiring safeguarding in the interest of national security are protected as prescribed. His duties include the establishment and maintenance of controls and infrastructure to ensure conformance with all laws and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of National Intelligence (DNI) issuances.  

Mr. Woosley has held many security positions in his 35+ year security career, including 22 years in the U.S. Air Force from 1985 to 2007 as an active duty Security Police/Security Forces NCO and Officer.  His USAF responsibilities ranged from nuclear weapons security, headquarters elite guard forces, law enforcement, air base defense, anti-terrorism, force protection, advanced program security, and actions in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom conducting detainee operations, which earned him a Bronze Star medal.  After retirement from the USAF in 2007, Mr. Woosley was a contractor and civilian security specialist supporting Integrated Joint Special Technical Operations at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia.  In 2010, he moved to Arlington, Virginia, and started a nine-year stint as a contractor and government program security officer at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), supporting the TTO, I2O, DSO, and MTO technology offices culminating in the award of the DARPA Meritorious Civilian Service Medal.

Mr. Woosley joined UMD/ARLIS in January of 2020. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from Saint Leo University (Cum Laude) and a Master of Science degree in Security Management from Bellevue University.
