Maryland Quantum NEXUS

As quantum technologies continue to mature, defense, intelligence, government, and industry organizations face an increasing demand for STEM professionals capable of supporting quantum applications. The need for individuals who combine technical expertise with practical quantum experience and eligibility to work in secure environments continues to outpace the available workforce. 

Maryland Quantum Network for Experiential Learning, Workforce Upskilling, and Skills Development (NEXUS) is ARLIS's employer-driven quantum workforce development initiative designed to strengthen Maryland’s quantum community. 

By connecting STEM talent with applied research, industry, government, and national security mission partners, NEXUS develops practical experience, operational expertise, employer-recognized digital badges, and workforce readiness. This workforce strengthens Maryland’s leadership in quantum technologies and supports national security priorities. 

NEXUS strengthens Maryland’s quantum workforce by providing applied, workplace-based experience with operational quantum systems. NEXUS trainees will develop the interdisciplinary hardware, software, and experimental skills required to operate quantum systems while working alongside experts across academia, industry, government, and national security organizations.
