  • Advancing Geospatial Intelligence: ARLIS's Collaboration with NGA

    ARLIS has teamed up with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) as a member of its Intelligence and Security University Research Enterprise (INSURE) academic consortium in support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). The team is mapping coastlines and seafloor environments more effectively by designing intuitive interfaces and workflows to enhance spatial resolution and computational performance. Ultimately this research will make it easier for NGA analysts to generate better informed analysis.

  • September Marks National Insider Threat Awareness Month: How ARLIS is Celebrating

    September is National Insider Threat Awareness Month (NITAM), an annual, month-long campaign spearheaded by the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD (I&S)) and the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) to educate government and industry about the risks posed by insider threats and the role of insider threat programs.

  • RISC Celebrates Fifth Year with Summer Internship Program, Showcasing Talent in Intelligence and Security

    ARLIS's 2024 Research for Intelligence and Security Challenges (RISC) summer internship program ended Aug. 9 after interns spent 10 weeks working on a variety of real-world issues across 46 projects.Over a two-day capstone event on Aug. 7 and 8, ARLIS hosted all 110 interns and 54 faculty mentors. The interns displayed their efforts at a Research Showcase with more than 200 attendees, including U.S. Government sponsors and recruiters.

    The Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS), based at the University of Maryland, selected IonQ, a leader in quantum computing, to design and install a unique system researchers will use to advance the use of quantum computers in national security.
